Of course, depending on your preferences and choices of ingredients, you can definitely try out varieties of pizzas or even whip out a recipe of your own. But for this article, let’s make ourselves a good old classic homemade pizza recipe that is sure to accommodate everyone’s palate.
Let’s start with the pizza crust. You can go a few ways: you can make homemade pizza with store-bought dough, or make your own pizza dough. Here are the ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups (355 ml) warm water (105°F-115°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast
- 3 3/4 cups (490 g) bread flour
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
Below is the video that will teach you how to make your own dough.
Preheat the oven.
Get your oven to 500 °F / 260 °C or higher than that. Slide your old pizza stone onto the top rack of your oven 45 minutes to an hour. Pizza stones add mass to the oven to help the pizza cook more evenly, and it’s a good surface to bake on.
Spread with tomato sauce and sprinkle with toppings.
Sprinkle or cornmeal or semolina onto your pizza peel or cutting board and place your stretched crust onto it. Spoon on the tomato sauce and place your desired toppings on the pizza.
For our classic homemade pizza you can add these basic toppings:
- sliced mushrooms
- diced onion
- diced or sliced tomato
- sliced, black olives
- chopped zucchini
- sliced bell pepper
- mozzarella cheese, grated or sliced
Put it in the oven.
Slip the pizza off the peel and onto the hot old pizza stone and bake it for 15 minutes or until the crust and cheese looks golden brown.
Let it rest.
Give it five minutes to gel.
Slice with a pizza wheel or knife, and serve to your hungry crowd.
